To be honest, I really didn't dig the e90 at all until the LCI came out (I had an 09 coupe on order but canceled in favor of the LCI). The LCI fixed the two biggest gripes I had with the e90 - the headlights and taillights. They even got rid of the chrome mustache on the kidney grills, which was a bonus. I think the LCI e90 looks much meaner and more taut than the previous model.
So far the engine response has been great. I haven't floored it yet (honest Abe!) because I just broke 1200 miles today. I'll whip it around a bit when I have some open road and report back, but so far, I don't feel any lag below 1500 rpm. The car just goes, and goes fast too, thanks to all the lovely torque.
I have a co-worker with an 08 335i. I'm currently on an extended vacation from work, but as soon as I get back, we're going to mash on each other's car to see if there's any difference b/t his response and mine. So far, we've both been happy, but it'll be nice to get a frame of reference.
