FWIW, there is a cable to the exhaust flap that you can get to by removing the cover in the trunk by the left tail light.
Unplugging that cable will give you a CEL,
but after I did an MHD flash with the cable unplugged the CEL never came back on for it. I'm guessing the ECU takes the current state of the world at the time of the flash as "how it should be" so it assumes there is no exhaust flap.
