When my E90 battery was dying last week I used my diesel tractor to jump it. The tractor has a 2-month old Optima Red Top in it, which is 1000 cranking amps. The E90 needed about 5 minutes to let the tractor throw enough coulombs into the battery. Depending on sulfated your battery is, it may need some time to get charged enough. Also, batteries can just short out and not pass any current and just need to be replaced outright. If it needs 15 minutes, then the battery is in bad shape.
