OP, it happens to us all at that age. Our girls "become adults" and want to see what else is out there. It may not have anything to do with you. But she's probably curious about other types of men and a different type of life. Its that same transformation from kid to teenager, now happening as an adult.
Unfortunately, I agree that:
1. she had probably already checked out of the relationship by the time she told you.
2. she's seeing this guy BECAUSE he's the opposite of you (again, looking to experience different things)
3. "let's be friends" is her stringing you along to feed her ego
No matter how nice she is, I do not feel she is exempt from the 3 things I mentioned. It's just part of growing up.
