Both the ticking and maracas sound (lol) stay until the car is warmed up and then I don't hear it again really until the next full cold start. Anything involving the potential for the belt to slip off and get sucked into the crankshaft seal is worth continued efforts IMO.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to look at mine more closely this weekend now that I have the belt and pulley kit in hand.
