I pretty sure what I'm about to state is correct, Bourbon has to have a certain mix of ingredients, and be distilled in Kentucky to be called "Bourbon". It can then be shipped elsewhere, and bottled there. For example. Widow Jane is an excellent Bourbon, it's distilled in Kentucky, and bottled in New York. There are a number of other Bourbons that are bottled in other states than Kentucky. That's probably why the "not distilled here" type of message is on the Bourbon from Illinois.
Oops, this is not correct. What Maynard states is correct. Bourbon can be distilled outside of Kentucky, and still be called Bourbon.
