I know this thread has been around for a while and its a great DIY.
I just wanted to point out that most car insurance companies give a rebate for having a car alarm. Mine gives $100 a year discount. Since I've installed the car alarm I've already started making a profit. My only point is that it could be possible that your not saving any money by bypassing the system.
Check with your ins company... it may be worth it to just get the alarm installed. I dont think they give rebates for blinking clown noses.. lol.
