weird that your diff started making noise all of a sudden especially since it wasnt making noise before...
when i had my M, i changed the diff fluid every 25k kms.... so i guess thats why i didn't have any issues.... it was just preventative measure for me.
i changed the diff fluid on the RS recently too since i dont know when it was last changed by the previous owner.
did the dealer cover this under warranty? i had to pay out of pocket when i was doing my regular diff fluid changes.
