You're gonna get screwed on a trade in with a car this old, especially in this market.

140k KM is not that much either. It's all psychological. People see that "100,000" number and think, wow that's a big number! But that's not even 90,000 miles in the US. Would you feel the same way if it was only 87,000 kms?

Also, the used car market is hot. My X3 is now worth $5k *more* than what I paid for it a year ago. And that's *book* value. My 330i is basically flatlined at $7000 (what I paid for it 7 years ago). Unless you're getting close to what you can get selling PP, I'd list it on Kiji for $10k CAD and go buy myself something nice with the difference.

On the other hand, living near the border and having friends/family in Canada - that's where I go to buy a "high miles" car on the cheap. Our X3 had 62,000miles, almost 100,000kms. It's in fantastic shape and "low miles" to me. Ironic, isn't it?

also, why do all Canadian ads for cars still reference MPG? it makes no sense, lol.
