For 5k price it's inevitable 120k-150k miles
If you're looking for something you can always work on yourself, and the risk of breaking is down is OK, then for sure go for it
My first e36 325 had 150k miles, no issues other than CEL until I wrecked
07 328 bought with 120k miles - coolant hose broke while driving, Starter was replaced, all spark plugs replaced, coil replaced, etc now washer reservoir won't hold any fluid, rear passenger window regulator is out, false CEL every two months for secondary air pump sensor - but the car itself runs amazing.
I was ok with all this, I want to learn and work on as much as I can but really anything engine related I have to take to my mechanic, so far I've dropped maybe $900 on necessary repairs/maintenance when the car has broken down or refused to start
