Also, if you are trying to figure out if your mirror module works with the new Homelink protocol, the Homelink technician told me the old style takes approximately 20 seconds to clear the existing programming when you hold the 1 and 3 buttons down. With the new protocol, it takes only about 10 seconds to clear the former programming.

I wondered that, too, but was afraid maybe some mirror wiring didn't vibe with the E9X plug versus how the F10 5 Series cars were wired. The pins looked slightly different on the one I had which is why I just replaced the garage door module.
