I ran M3 sizes, 245/35 and 265/35 (RE71-R) for most of a year. The front rubbed slightly on a bolt for the IS-specific aux radiator in the driver's (left) wheel well while turning (only noticeable at low speeds), but other than that it was fine. I like the 35 profile in the rear for added sidewall height which has various benefits mentioned above.

I'd have gone 275/30 but the tires I wanted didn't come in that size.
