The Garmin 330 is a good entry level nav. It certainly does everything the iDrive's nav does and more. Thie biggest downside of the 330 is that it has the old Garmin screen technology which is not very bright. It washes out very easily in sunlight.
I mount mine in my Suburban low down with an external antenna. It works great. I had to buy a 2720 for my Volvo because I couldn't read the c330.
