I appreciate the fact that you've provided an update - not so many bother, so props for that.
Just for the record, you're asking for trouble using ISTA-P without the interface (ICOM-A) that it expects. ISTA-P is very inflexible and its action plan likely included programming and coding a number of modules in the vehicle - you cannot confine it to a single module.
The bottom line is you damaged your customer's CAS module in some way, whether it was because of a low voltage during programming, the use of ISTA-P with an inappropriate interface or some other reason. Although you feel "pretty certain" that you could have resurrected given time, with all due respect it seems clear that you do not have the experience to make such a claim or the necessary tools to deal with the fallout.
I would suggest a deep dive into programming and coding (these are two different things if you were not aware) on this site. And stay away from ISTA-P
