I'm questioning this because I was under the impression that the battery protection circuit monitors (after 30 minutes / doors locked) mA and anything over 80mA will trigger the warning (battery dead or not). I struggled with this for a while connecting my AndroidPC.

this. You'll need The "Power Magic Pro" plus an AGM battery. I have a Blackvue DR650gw-2ch...that works great in this set-up, no battery "increase discharge" warning, not even in winter with camera in parking mode. Power Magic Pro cut-off happens after more than a week of inactivity...
