It's usually a pro-install. You basically do nothing. They put it on, I wax it with the rest of the car once a year, but other than that, you don't need to do anything. Works slick. This is my third vehicle with it, and it just lasts.
I've never seen the temporary one though. But it would be great for road trips like the OP is doing, or going to a car show since it would save you from having to detail the front on arrival.
