After carefully feeling around the upper portion of the sleeve, I could feel a metal or plastic band which I worked into the groove of the handle! My problem was, I was doing this whlie the brake was off (down position) when I pulled it up I had plenty of slack to work the ring on to the handle!!
All is well!
