I see what you are saying.
For examply "under the surface" my 2011 335i xDrive sedan shares the SAME IDENTICAL 6HP19/6HP21 transmission as a 2008 - 2011 535i xDrive sedan!
So the only modifications would be finding a way to get a DCT shifter extracted from a 6HP19/6HP21 in a 2008 - 2010 535i xDrive sedan and placed into my car.
Only wiring and coding would be an issue.
Sounds good BUT when I search thru eBay for the DCT shifter assembly part
from a 2008 to 2011 535i xDrive sedan those shifter assembly are radically different than the E90 shifter assembly.
The DCT shifter comes out of a enclosed electrical box.
