Can have anything else on stick as long as formatted correctly and the nav update files are at the top level (root) of stick
Ps download of a script on page 12 here, it will get the file needed from CIC so no need to buy a cable any more! Not used it myself but speaking to someone else on here re map updates they used this script and loaded new maps in past few days with no issues

If you did want cable still then yes enet cable should be ok on most lci e9x models, will only talk to cic though, can't do other stuff
