What's all the whining? The base M2/M3/M4 is as good as ever and still very reasonbly priced if you don't go nuts with the options. Now they'll be offering the base M cars with the same mix of street and track performance as always AND a number of higher performance options for people that want more and can spend more.

I don't get what there is to complain about. "Watering down the M brand" would only mean something if the cars weren't good. But they are, so that's a meaningless statement unless you're just buying it to impress people with your M badge. Guess what: People who don't care will still not care and people who do will still be impressed.
