I too had some problems with my 2013 335is Bluetooth system. Here's what I did.
Turned car off for 30 mins.
Turned Bluetooth off on my iPhone 4S.
Turned car on and brought up the Bluetooth System.
Activated Bluetooth on my iPhone.
Activated PAIR on Bluetooth System in the BMW and entered code: 1234.
The iPhone immediately presented a screen to enter a code. I entered 1234.
Pair was successful.
