Jack stands. I HIGHLY recommend checking the transfer case with a magnetic "level" the kind used by carpenters. The reason is if the car is leaning to the driver side you wont drain all the fluid out. Since there is only .55 quart in there, theres not much to play with. Check the level by placing it on the bottom of the transfer case horizontally driver to passenger door, raise the side thats lower one click on the jack stands, until its level. Do the same vertically front to rear bumper and make sure it is perfectly center.

If you are on a lift you dont have to worry about this step.
