I passed when I was 17 and couldn't afford insurance until I waswas 21 and it dropped below the grand mark, just 4 years of buses and taxis lol. Now 23 and a 320D is still around 800 quid fully comp!

As Mike said, just mess round and get a few quotes with different details to see what gets it lower. Putting my mum on as a named driver (woman in her 50s with 9+ ncb) pretty much halves my quote! Other things like saying it was parked on the road over night rather than on the drive took £50 or so off (i thought it'd be the other way!?). Basically mess round in a price comparison site and see what gets it low.
