A misfire that I originally thought might just be a bad injector now seems to lead to a failed DME. It seems a lot of guys on the forums are having this issue with a certain production date in mid 2007. One or more MOSFET transistors within the DME burn out and cause erratic injector behavior.
It is warrantied by federal emmisions standards till 80,000 miles but I just passed that mark, so it looks like it will be up to $3,000 at the dealer for a replacement.
But fortunately this can be repaired with a $2 transistor, from what I have been reading. I have soldered in the past, but don't trust myself with something this important.
