Inlet/Outlet recommendation?

About to purchase a set of Pure600 N54 turbos with 2” inlets. What stock location inlets and aluminum outlets can you recommend to best fit and pair with my e90 2009 335xi sedan?

Thanks.

I would use an Aluminum type inlet & outlet, if you are going to use 2". The outer diameter of them is not near as wide as a silicone one. Thus, it will make it considerably easier to fit behind the engine. Actually, it will be a much better fit in the front by the serpentine belt as well.

VTT inlets and outlets stock location I made the mistake of going with VRSF stock 2" inlets and it's a super tight fit you'll need to use zip ties to tie it to the fan shroud if you don't want them making contact with your pullys and rollers.

Is there a specific reason you want stock location inlets? I got MMP stock location inlets and its tight, had to ziptie it to the fan shroud. Wish I got relocated inlets from the start.

Yeah the VRSF ones need a zip tie as well to hold it back from making contact with the pullys. I wish I went with VTT stock location inlets so I wouldn't have to rely on zipties but I don't feel like spending another $330 on a pair of inlets. Which turbo's are you running?

I'm using MMP 1.75" silicone inlets. No zip tires needed. I just seated the inlet all the way to the turbo & used a SS worm clamps about 1/4" away from the end. They have never once slipped off.

2" inlets would be a serious PITA to install. Especially in the rear. You'd definitely have to remove the OEM bracket, on the upper corner of the backside engine, which is near the VC. It holds the OEM inlet in place. You need a really small ratchet with a t30 bit & a lot of patience.

You might even have to tilt the engine forward slightly to get the 2" inlet to fit. 🤔

This thread is quite old. I ended up going with RB Two Plus turbos, RB inlets and VTT outlets as PSP stopped making their outlets.

How much HP are you making?

I assume you have an upgraded FMIC, & 3" downpipes.

Wedge says about 525whp at 22psi on 93. Haven’t been to a dyno yet due to CV19. Next plan is order a Helix OD and go full E85.

Yes, I run the AA Race intercooler, don’t think they make it anymore, and CPE downpipes.

I ordered bms inlets together with their occ, pcv, tmap sensor, and cdv so i can save some shipping internationally. I guess i will not change my order to 1.75. Do u really need an outlets? Also using pump gas. Is it ok to upgrade the lpfp or hpfp eventhough now u are just using pump gas

If you were going from OEM turbos to stage 2 turbos, you'd almost have to upgrade your LPFP to stage 2 due to fueling requirements.

You wouldn't need to upgrade the HPFP until you get past 600hp I think.

2" inlets will be a major PITA getting the rear inlet on the turbo. 1.75" barely fit as it is.

Outlets are usually a requirement for stage 2 turbos and some stage 1 turbos. For OEM, they just make the system more efficient.

Why not the relocated inlets? Everyone seems happy with those and the best solution long term.

Are there any oem location inlets that don't require zip ties to hold it away from the pulleys? I kinda notice everyone has to use zip-ties and I'm not a big fan of that.

which inlets are they using? sometimes it could be install or product fitment problem.

having a zip tie hold it to the fan isn't that big of a deal though!

I have MMP 1.75" inlets. I don't have mine zip tied to the fan. It's not something I'm concerned about. I've had mine for 3 years.

If I had 2" inlets, you bet I'd have it zip tied to the fan 😉
