Unhappy Help my dealer!

My E90 2007 2500 miles is at the dealer and in 2 days, they haven't figured why it won't go in 'sleeping mode'. No aftermarket devices installed. No message in the cluster.

So if I start the car after 2 days, the battery is dead. 1 day is Ok.

Clues;
It started to happen after;
- I might have (not sure) left the radio ON without the key (should have stopped going in sleeping mode?)
- I changed all wheels with 18". Had to reset FTM to cancel the flat warning (I don't see the link but timing is there).
- After the possible radio thing, I had to boost direct at the battery in the trunk the first time (instead of the poles in the engine section)... could it have damaged anything ? (didn't tell them).

It is getting weirder.

To the contrary what I was told, the car goes in sleep mode and in 3 days, they haven't seen it getting out of it by itself. They just took my word for it (?).

It is true however that I had to jumpstart it 3-4x. Now they have their chief technician working on it, along with BMW Canada resources.

Questions.

If the first time I left the radio with no key, would the electonic system allow to drain the battery?

Does it matter that I jump started it direct at the battery instead of the poles in engine department?

Getting tired of this. :thumbdwn:

They didn't find anything wrong.... after 4 days. They tested at indoors temperatures.

I suspect a bad battery. There must be a reason why I had to jump start it 4x!

After a full week, I got my car back.

Item #3 was on the work order indicates that I complained that my keys don't open the trunk. It was returned the same way!

On top of that, they told me that they changed the latch because they think that it could the cause of the drainage. They didn't find anything else wrong. I won't touch it for 2 day and we will see if the battery is dead.

At this point, I really, really doubt that they changed the latch as said.

Here we go again!

I thought it was Ok for a month. I used it 1-2 tim es a week.

But today after 4 days at rest, the battery was DEAD.

No accessories installed.

Since the first day I suspect a bad battery. HELP!

What is the normal max. current draw in sleep mode? Do BMW dealers have precise means to determine it?

sounds like your dealer is a buncha morons...if they cant figure out a drain thats a problem...start unplugging modules and fuses till the drain goes away..

The problem is that they didn't find any drain, according to the SA.

Something happened while I was waxing my car this morning. After 2 hours that the engine is off (no key left), I hear a brief noise similar equivalent of the central locking mechanism and then a very weak strident sound for 1-2 minute. I was not able to find the source of this sound. I am sure that they wouldn't hear it in a shop. 10 minutes later, it happened again.

There must be a reason why that car battery gets dead after 3-4 days. :mad:

Going back to dealer Tuesday again. BMW Laval has been supportive so far. It is just not obvious.

Put a new battery in and save the receipt. If it's the battery, take the receipt to them and get reimbursed...

They have the car since Monday. Nothing found out. It is the second full week in one month that they keep it. They just say that they don't find anything wrong with this car. One step further, they would tell me in my face that they don't believe me. I jump-started this car 12-15 times, including 2x last week.

What a baaaaaad experience with a 2500 miles car.

If it would be a drain, I guess that would get occasional low-voltage messages. Never. If I start my car within 2 days, it will be fine. After 3-4 days, no juice.

I begin to HATE this car.

just tell them to change out the battery first and see what happens.

They 'found for sure' (their saying) a bad driver's doorlock that was draining current. I left it alone 5 days... and it started! I shouldn't be that surprised but I am.
