HELP! Cause for blown Turbo? (E90 335i)

I had purchased some aftermarket 17ts from DAW. Had the turbos installed and they were perfect for about a week. One night I was cruising and all the sudden I heard one turbo start screeching like a banshee and then a loud pop. Blown rear turbo. Fast forward, I got the turbo off and looked at it today and found something interesting.

It looks to be unfinished. Does anyone have any idea if this could have caused my turbo to malfunction?

This is why the turbo isn't working.

Looks like crap quality to me. When it failed did it damage anything else in the vehicle?

Well, my initial thought was, they're ebay turbos, no surprise there.

However your first photo is definitely not right. As far as i'm aware, that should not look like that. I'd contact the seller ASAP, but my guess is you may be out of luck. I'd be willing to bet they'll void warranty because that should have been caught before install.

If you haven't drained your oil, do so asap.

You said in your last post that you had Dynamic Autowerks 17ts.

haha so much for him not naming the vendor. Classic when the internet catches you with your hand in the cookie jar.

Yeah it's leftover casting. My thought process is that it interrupted coolant flow and caused the thrust assembly to get too hot.
