Anybody know anything about these turbos? They seem to popular on e30's along with a bunch of other highly modded cars according to their Facebook page.

That's funny, when I saw your thread title I immediately knew you were talking about kamotorsports. They're just cheap eBay turbos with questionable reliability. From other reviews of these on r3vlimited you're better off buying a reputable turbo. Thinking about somehow fabbing this up for the 335?

They are on eBay, but with some investigation they seem to be in a lot of heavily modded cars according to their Facebook and on the YouTube Drive /tuned channel. Just looking for alternatives to RB and Pure turbos. Steam turbos might be my other option.

Kinugawa/Kamak turbos are solid and reliable. Lots of guys in the Asian Import scene run them. Much better than the cheap ebay turbos you see. Better than the on3 turbos as well that people are now starting to run on this platform.

I ran a Kinugawa for 20k miles + on my last car. Turbo was still good, car was totaled though. I know plenty of guys that have ran them for much longer.

Thanks csu87 it seems like that is the case. Just not a lot of mention of them good or bad on the Internet.

I personally hadn't used Kinugawa but witnessed a catastrophic turbo failure on my cousin's car. He had a TD04-15T on his Saab built into a 20T with an HL 9-blade turbine wheel - "upgraded" components were Kinugawa. After a couple of weeks the shaft snapped and, needless to say, everything went down the drain.

Could be an isolated incident but gives you an additional data point.

Never heard of them, i would not put turbos on my car unless they are from a proven company considering the amount of time, labor and costs it involves installing it.

Have to also take into account this was a rebuilt turbo; assuming by a shop. Lots of things can go wrong with a rebuilt turbo if everything isn't installed perfectly

Absolutely agree with you there - I assumed that the OP would be building his own hybrid set of turbos, I'm not aware if Kinugawa makes turbos for the n54 or not. For what it's worth, the same shop built another 20T for him using a genuine MHI turbine and I can't recall the manufacturer of the compressor wheel that he used (but certain that it wasn't Kinugawa) and that turbo is still running great three and a half years later. With higher boost levels as well.

It could be, because their site has a verification turbo authentication process. Basically you can see if you got a kinugawa knock off.
