do some searching going from RFTs to ANY non RFT. There is a big difference. The side wall is MUCH softer. Search.

I replaced my RFTs with Hankook v12s. The difference is not night and day as most people say, but it is definitely noticeable and welcome. Although, how much difference can you expect on 19" wheels.

On my second set of Hankooks. They are not my interim replacement until I could afford to purchase... Hey, I'm looking for good performers without the price sticker shock.
-- First set were on 162 wheels at 225/40/18x8 front, 255/35/18x8.5 rear to replace RFTs.
-- Second set on 219M wheels at 235/40/18x8.5 front, 265/35/18x9.5 rear.
Check out this article:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...12_evo_page_10

With a Quaife diff (LSD) installed, I try to chirp the tires whenever I can, and I have increased tire pressure per recommendations on my door jamb for speeds up to and over 100MPH = 39PSI front/45PSI rear, which still gives a luxuriously comfortable ride without the denture-jarring firmness of the RFT's and is sneaky grippy on turn-in/handling performance in daily driving. Current set of tires grip so well that I find it difficult to generate any wheel spin on start up.

Yes, it is a bit softer ride...extremely comfortable, though, but performance--especially in wet conditions--remains quite adequate for my needs.

I like the Hankook brand better than the Falkens and even Nittos in terms of performance. Haven't found the Direzzas because I heard those were discontinued and they were a bit pricier than the 'kooks.

I like Hankooks better than Brickstones, because they're:
-- affordable and inexpensive but not cheap(ly made)
-- good in wet traction performance
-- rated high in tread wear, as long-lasting tread rating means longer life than RFTs
-- easy to mount, compared with RFTs.
Because they are inexpensive, I don't worry about tread life, although they might last longer if one is not constantly laying patches of rubber on the asphalt or driving aggressively. Probably should last around 30-40K miles.

When you purchase a set of four select Hankook tires (including select Ventus tires) you may be eligible to receive up to a $60 mail-in rebate. -- source: Tire Rack web site

Hope this helps, and G/L with your decision.

I run Hankook V12's on 18" rims. 235/40/18 and 255/35/18. The RFT tramlining dissapeared but the car felt somewhat bouncy with non-RFT's. I've later upgraded the suspension to Bilstein PSS10 and now is runs OK. The turn-in behavior was better with RFT than Hankook's but this was also cured with PSS10. But non-RFT is better even on a stock chassi.

My good friend is suggesting I do exactly this, he is telling me he loves these Hankook tires and no need to spring for anything more expensive. There are some good reviews around the internet.

The V12 Evo will have a softer ride but slower steering response than the OE RE050 run flat tires.

I did just that, they are excellent tires. Many people will tell you that they are less responsive, maybe they mean that in an autocross type of sense but I doubt on the street that you will see a difference. I never noticed any decrease in handling but a massive improvement in comfort. Potholes do not feel the same anymore...

got about 50 miles with the new tires and there is definitely a comfort factor to this hankooks compared to the rft tires, other than that i feel it the same just more comfortable and not bad for almost a third of the price of stock tires.

I am debating getting the V12s vs. Pilot Super Sports. I know these tires are obviously in a different class. I am coming from RFTs. Will I get a bouncy ride with any non-RFTs? Will the steering response be significantly better with the Super Sports compared to the V12s? I am leaning towards the super sports at the moment.

Wasn't that C and D review on the Hankooks done on a FWD car? I remember someone mentioning that before.....Because at first, I heard that the Hankooks came in second place to the Michelin PS, and I was like 'WHOA' I gotta try those, especially for that price. Then I read that the test was done on a FWD car (a Mazda or something....), IIRC.

The only test I have ever read on these tires was a comparo using a 328i coupe.

I found it here;

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests

The only tires that beat them were Star Specs which in my opinion are a bit too aggressive for the street.

I just put V12's on this evening... the car is softer.. responds to bumps better than the RFTS (MUCH better) and doesnt tramline anymore..

HOWEVER.. it feels like shit lol.. spongey.. slushy.. play in the steering wheel.. going to PSI up to 37F and 38R tomorrow and see if things change - will report back!!

ok update:

My fronts were filled to 35.. the rears were at 42.. I tried to push them on an on ramp today and had to back down because of a total loss of confidence.. i'm going to wait a week or so and then push them to 37/38 psi after they've been worn in.. but so far.. I prefer my old RFTS to be honest.. :S
