Help! Wheels too big? for my e92
Hey guys, I'm a newbie to this whole car thing and i need some help. I've purchased 20" wheels for my 08' e92 and the rear side is kinda too low (as seen in picture). With that being said, it is eating up the tire treads everytime when I make turns. So....my guess is that I need to either buy the springs or shocks? for the rear so I can balance the rear. Since I have no clue what to buy (springs? or shocks?) Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Those are 20's? They look more like 19's from this perspective.

just roll your fenders...
springs will LOWER your car more and your problem will be worse.. shocks don't really affect ride height. are you on stock suspension?

i'm learning as i go...the car guy at the rim shop told me that the 20"s would fit better & ride nicer (audiocityusa rep). Since I've found this forum after I've purchased the wheels, i had no help in the beginning...

If you want to fix your problem get quality 17"-18" wheels or roll your fenders. |

yeah you definitely need to roll your fenders, i'm actually planning on getting mine done soon as well, if you're interested ill see if maybe we can get a deal for 2 cars, let me know. rolling your fenders is just pushing the inside panel above your wheel well area in more so when the car hits bumps and the tire bounces up and down it doesn't rub against that area, is this your problem? or does it rub on the actual body panel area on the car? in which you will either need new tires or get new rims because your offset is too aggressive for your car (i don't think this is your case though) do you know the offset for your rims?

I assume you're rubbing on the fenders right? Yes you might meed to roll your fenders or go back to that idiot who sold you the rims and get the correct offset so you don't have too much poke. You also might want to post a profile picture to see how much poke you have.

The wheels are not a proper fitment for your car. The problem is not that they are 20', the problem is that they are too wide or too offset from the hub. See http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
BTW, 20 inch wheels make the ride worth in most cases. The wheels are heavier than most 18-19 (even when factoring the lighter tires), and the small tire ratio makes ride harsh and prone to pothole damage. |

roll your fenders. get stiffer springs and shocks. accept the stiff ride quality.
if you're rubbing only on turns, the wheel/tire setup isnt THAT aggressive. but anything riding on rubber band tires on 20" wheels will ride like shit. the guy at the shop straight lied to you. lol. does he wear skinny jeans and have a crooked ass hat with a neon colored graffiti-style logo and giant cubic-zirconia earrings too? lol

Why continue to mod your car to fit a poorly fitting wheel??
I would go back to your salesman and smack him upside the head for selling you the wheels...They can take it from there. |

I believe that your front is still to high... KW V2's or V3's will solve your problem in a way... Question... what makes you go 20's anyways?... If you can't live with rubbing fenders and wearing out tires, you should have just stick to 19's... 20's are for diehard "I wanna ride low and sick" kind of ride... even the expert "stretch and poke guys" knows that if it doesn't rub it is not right... ... just get a fully adjustable coilovers and keep it low...
