Cold Start Stalling at Idle 6AT
For the past month or two, my car would sometimes stall on cold starts after idling for a little bit. It would also stall when I would put it into drive it give it some light throttle. After I turned the car back on it would usually be okay. Over the last couple of days it has gotten increasingly worse. It went from stalling once or twice to stalling about 5 or 6 times before I get down from the 4th story of my apartment garage. I tried taking some logs of the stalling to see if anything was out of the norm but at first I did not notice anything. I reset lamba sensors, lamba regulation, vanos, and intake mass flow. It did not get rid of the problem. This morning I decided to pay closer attention to my rail pressure to see what it did at the time the car stalled. I have a custom tune with Wedge and I have a N54 style pump. I noticed that after my RPMs dropped during idle, my rail pressure would still be up around 2,100 psi. Surely enough, my car stalled not too long after. I turned the car back on and the rail pressure remained up around 2,100 psi. I gave it light throttle and the car stalled. From what it seemed, it was drowning out the spark and causing the car to stall. I reset Fuel High Pressure System adaptation and monitored the rail pressure after my car sat idle. Once my RPMs dropped my rail pressure went back down to around 750 psi which is normal at idle. No more stalling. I hope this can offer some guidance to others that are also experiencing stalling at idle.

Thank you!!!!! I am going through the exact same thing! I have a custom tune with Wedge and this exact thing happens to me. My idle goes up and down searching then stalls. When I finally get to put it in gear it stalls. Then after a couple times turning on it goes away. I will try resetting this also and see if it works. My rail is also around 2000 at startup.

Are you on ethanol?
Is your downpipe catless? Sounds like cold start / cat warmup behavior was modified and not done so in the proper way, especially if ethanol is used. |

For best results, even without a cat, you should have cat warmup enabled. This causes ignition to go way negative, changes injection timing, and generally warms up everything pretty quickly. Your timing is too advanced for cold start. I believe that the rail pressure is correct. You can confirm by logging "rail pressure desired" or whatever. |

When you are referencing cat warmup are you referring to cold start delete? Cause yes I have that disabled, because a cattles start is crazy loud lol in my little neighborhood!

I reflashed my tune and reset high fuel pressure adaptation and so far no stalling.

It should be under the codes Tab and then reset adaptations. 6 down is fuel high pressure system.
