e92 Update?
Hi all, does a certain designation or month year of manufacture apply to the e92 update? ie:
What i would like to know is: The HDD based NAV/Audio and I-Drive 2 are they inetertwined with each other? and the advent of those did away with the DVD tray/slot in the dash? Does the I-Drive controller itself give an indication of the model? as i hear some people say they have a 2007 model and it has the updated I-Drive or do they mean a software update not system/hardware? ie: just looking on carsales etc and it appears the 2009 MY08 has the updated I Drive controller and the 2008 MY08 does not. Would that be correct? ie 3 cars i'm looking at: http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...neSize:Min,Max http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...neSize:Min,Max http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...neSize:Min,Max Thanks. 1. Car Information Computer (CIC) using 80GB hard drive with Professional navigation only (larger 8.8" widescreen) - from September 2008 production. (Not sure, but I think the old DVD-based Business navigation also shipped with the updated iDrive controller from September 2008 production?) 2. CIC Basic using Flash memory (NAND chip similar to an SD card) with Business navigation only (smaller 6.5" screen) - from second half of 2009 You can check the car's build date under the bonnet (at least you can for sedans). For the E92 335i, Professional navigation is a standard feature (as opposed to optional extra). The new CIC/iDrive2/Professional combo also includes a DVD drive (I believe the old system included 2 drives, a DVD + a CD drive). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDrive#...tion_.28CIC.29 |
