anyone know how to install these paddles?
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BMW-E92-E...-/181473737572
^ that's the paddle shifters I am looking at. I have M3 steering wheel with M3 DCT paddle shifters already but want longer/bigger paddles. My car came with the M3 wheel and DCT paddles so I'm not too sure how these would be installed. any help appreciated. thanks

You don't have to remove the entire wheel to take off paddles - only airbag & multifunction trim/buttons.
Then after removing the paddles you will need to take them apart to swap out the paddle portion. I have extended DCT paddles, there is a DIY somewhere, I'll try find it and post link.

M3 paddles FTW!
Here's a pic with the DCT paddles disassembled. And comparing it to stock, Also you could see the the 1 bolt to remove the paddles. And another pic to show you that that bolt is still accessible with the trim on. So just remove your airbag. |

I got mine (brushed aluminum) from Modmy3
http://www.modmy3.com/e9x/bmw-e92/bm...t-paddles.html Here is link to a PDF of the LED version install of the paddles. Install for non-LED would be the same, just ignore all the steps/pics that have to do with wiring for the LED's (Steps 13 thru 19, step 24, steps 30 thru 35): http://modmynav.com/dct/MMN-LED-DCT.pdf Like I said, no need to remove the wheel - but you DO need to disconnect the battery when removing airbag. Personally, I would also remove the trim as it is very EZ (3 torx screws from backside of wheel that are easy to access) & it makes it so much easier to get to the paddle wiring connectors & attachment screws)

Yes, once you can see those (2) torx screws, remove them, unplug the wires from the paddle assemblies, & they will come right off the backside of the wheel - see my install PDF

Anything that involves removing any of the safety systems responsible for saving my life or the lives of others scares the shit out of me. Good luck.

ah, its no big deal airbag pops right out, disconnect 2 wires and shes off. goes back on just as ez - really nothing about the airbag itself being disturbed.
it is important to disconnect battery though - both for safety reasons and so there will not be an error code thrown. ive had mine off/on at least 5x now and it is fine |
