Bank recommendations?
I've had it with Bank of America! Aside from the horrible customer service I've gotten this year I'll make a long story short...9 months ago $50,000 was transferred from Bank of America to another bank which "magically disappeared" before a vacation, tons of empty promises until they finally get sick of hearing about their mistake, and to this day is in limbo somewhere if that leaves doubt that it was bank of Americas fault keep reading...a couple weeks ago $8,000 was transferred from one BoA account to another BoA account (fyi I have access to both so im certain) once again "magically disappeared" same treatment once again and everytime you go in to speak to a higher up they have you escorted out embarrassingly regardless of your calm demeanor. (Yes that was the short version) so I'm through I don't trust this bank who is keeping $58,000 from a customer making interest off it. So I need recommendations for another bank, I know some are regional I'm in boston btw I'd also like to hear if anyone else has had this happen and how it turned out or advice on what to do? Thanks in advance

I don't bank with major companies. Even though I moved to NC, I still use my Credit Union One banking from when I was back in MI. I've heard a mix of good and bad from almost all major banking companies, so I don't have much input on that.
My credit union always give me incredible rates, I never pay fees for anything, all my checks are free, I get $ rewards, etc. How are the credit unions in your area? Would you consider a credit union or do you want to stick with something like Chase or Sun Trust? |

This post has me totally confused. So you lost $58,000 at BOA? Not understanding what you mean by “magically disappeared”
BOA is the biggest bank in the world, if you want personalized service find yourself a small mom and pop thrift. |

Anyone I've ever dealt with has always bent over backwards to make sure things were corrected almost immediately, whether it be a CC company or my little Credit Union. |

I think BAC has one of the worst services.
JPM is getting better with services after WAMU acquisition. Wells Fargo I go to locally, I get hassled by every person there. Upselling this that... The line to see teller is beyond the entrance way, and they are still trying to upsell savings/mortgage/retirement/cd, etc. Our local USbank branch is amazing. Very little people, and fast drive-thru deposit, but I've seen horrible USBank branches too.

You people still go INSIDE the bank? And I though I was old (school). Only time I go in is if I need more cash than the ATMs will give me.

I have a local credit union for some of my banking. But I also started banking with PNC just over a year ago. I moved my money from M&T Bank over a $15 service charge. I had my first bank account with First National Bank of Maryland and held that account through the Allfirst and then M&T Bank mergers. So I've had this account for about 20 years. I needed a cashier's check for closing on my vacation property and the teller didn't inform me that if I upgraded my account to one of their more premium accounts the cashier's check fee would be waived. I found this out afterwards and tried to get them to waive the fee after upgrading the account. They wouldn't so I bailed.
Went over to PNC and they've pretty much treated me like a rock star since. The branch I go to, the managers remember me by name. Because of the size of my account, they put me in their "preferred" banking category where I have a liaison I can go to if I ever have any issues or things I need taken care of. I also have utilized their financial investment services and have done VERY well by them. |

Total yes I mean transfer one was BoA to another bank transfer never made it to the other bank BoA had excuses like it may have been posted to the wrong acct etc etc no clear reason or explains nation and like I said any time we go in to get an explanation (calm and collect) they have you escorted out basically just dodge you and there's nothing you can do about it. Second one was BoA to BoA which should have been an instant transfer and like I said I have access to both account 8k taken out of acct 1 never posted to acct 2 and once again with the same story as the first transfer

You're right it makes little sense but I've not gotten any reasoning or answers to it that's why I can't make sense of it on the forum and like I said each time you go in for answers they brush you off somehow and when you persist they kick you out and your left with no choices

I do have two credit unions but they're just for loans with the frequency I use me card and online banking they're pretty inconvenient in that regard
I forgot to mention in the post each transfer was done by an actual employee and in person not online or over the phone |

Yea I had then since 03' with no problems and even recommended them until this year. I know big banks and small banks have differences in dealing with people I just need somewhere I can trust that's a lot of money to disappear let alone the hassle of getting it bank and how much impact there is without having it

I'm pretty sure other banks have improved their hours nowadays. Do any other banks have a penny arcade tho? I'll miss that. |
