Car Was Hit Today
This sucks.
My baby was backed into today while in a driveway at a friends house and some pretty decent damage was done to the drivers side quarter panel and driver door. Door is misaligned and will no longer latch to close. Filing a claim under the guy's insurance, know him well and he's very upset because he knows how I care for my property. Just did a 400mi road trip yesterday and was praising the E90 platform to my passengers and saying how I'm never going to sell... want it fixed right soon. Taking it to a body shop tomorrow morning to get an estimate. Anyone have experience with similar damage? If the front quarter panel/fender needs to be replaced how likely would it be for them install and paint some M3 style fenders if I supplied them and include some of the labor cost? (I wouldn't have the "M3" badge on them FYI) Anything I should or shouldn't do while at the body shop? I am going to ask them how much it would be to fix some prior damage on the rear from a valet while they have it in the shop. |

You can try, it worked for me when my old Dodge was hit in the back, I supplied aftermarket trunk, but didn't work when I was with Geico tho. So it depends on insurance.
You will definitely need quarter panel and a door I like the color tho |

You could just get a check from insurance (instead of the body shop billing insurance directly) and then pay for whatever repairs you choose (or not choose) to have done.
I've done this before in a situation when I didn't care about fixing all the damage, just enough to get it back on the road (old work truck). I paid the body shop for the repairs I wanted. They even found hidden damage, and it was added to the claim. The risk by going this route may be losing insurance's repair guarantee and possibly issues if there is a mismatch between the insurance estimate and the body shop estimate (although they should accept the insurance estimate). Remember that there's no requirement that you even have the car repaired. Insurance can just give you a check. Also don't forget to ask for a loss of use reimbursement for the estimated days in the shop. |

Jeez, how fast does this guy go in reverse? Hope it gets fixed soon.

Man that's basically your entire left side sans the rear door, wth was that person thinking? Meaning upon initial contact, usually a person stops, they don't go across the entire vehicle...sorry to see that, good luck with the repair
edit p.s. I think your car is crimson, I like that color as it's not that common, and it may be a good thing with the repair as I believe it's a flat color as opposed to metallic or tri-coat... |

the door has moved. hard to tell if it's just bent hinges or A pillar. i'm guessing the work will be needed to the a-pillar. so work wise, quite a bit of work to line up things correctly again

Also talk to the insurance company about the "DIMINISHED VALUE" of the car because of the damage. When you go to sell, if a carfax is pulled it will show that the car was damaged. The insurance company owes you the amount of the DIMINISHED VALUE with the repairs. This amount could be enough for you to get the up-grades and or other repairs you want done. Most people do not know about this, and of course the insurance company will not inform you about this. You may have to fight, argue to get what is rightfully yours.
You might be able to get a idea about how much you should be entitled to by searching for DIMINISHED VALUE CALCULATOR. Sorry about the bad luck. |

Sad to see, glad you are Ok.
Depend on the mileage on the car, it very well could be a total loss. An fender and a door are not cheap, plus paint and labor. |
