Can Anyone Explain This Service Writeup?
Hello all,
I recently had the dreaded 'Engine Malfuction- Reduced Power' come on my N55 E92. I had it fixed under warranty, but I am an idiot when it comes to understanding what exactly went wrong. I am hoping that some mechanically inclined folks here can read the service write up and help me understand what the issue was. Thanks! View post on imgur.com |

He tested for vacuum and pressure leaks. The throttle body is at the bottom of the intake manifold. The charge air pipe (pressurized intake air from the intercooler) slides on the bottom of it and a spring clip holds it on. If it wansn't pushed all the way on when the spring clip is pushed it will eventually vibrate loose.
To visually find vacuum or pressure leaks, they use a smoke generating system and introduce the smoke into the system. If there are leaks, they will see the smoke coming out and can make the repair. fuel pressure at 5.6 bar means 5.6 times atmospheric pressure of 14.6 psi. That is 81 psi and he is talking about the low pressure pump in fuel tank, not the high pressure fuel pump in the engine. Hope that helps. |
