What caused this?... How can I attempt to fix it?

Any help is appreciated, been having a rough week but here it is.
Today in the morning I noticed this on my hood. Looks as if someone tried prying it open? or maybe someone backed into it? or ... no clue... Can i just use a rubber hammer and try to fix it? or pry it from the inside out? LMK what you guys think, thanks.

****UDPATE**** I payed close attention to the damage, and I was able to come to the conclusion that someone did back into my car. If you pay close attention to the bumper in between the grills you see minor scratches also left by whoever backed into me. It sucks not being able to blame anyone for the damage done. Going to a pdr guy to see if anything can be done w/o major work required.

Definitely someone did that on purpouse ! Not an accident at all ! I would try wrapping the front of the hood with rags and use a nose plier to slowly shape the front part again !

Not easy thing to fix, it's a sharp crease it will always be visible. This most likely requires proper sheet metal work and paint.

Yeah I can't seem to find a reason as to why someone would want to do that...its a very odd way to damage a car. But yes I beleive I will try to fix it as much as I can before I consider serious body work on it =/ ... Thanks for the reply!

You might want to get an estimate from a paintless dent removal guy (dent wizard, etc...). The paint isn't broken yet, and it would be great if it could get bent back to normal without damaging the paint.

yeah quite possibly, I keep zooming into the pic on my phone and you can kind of see that the main damage was from the right lower corner (looking at it from the front) as if something pushed that corner in, causing it to fold in completely accross... meaning something could've pushed it? like a taller vehicle backing into mine. I will look for marks tonight to see if someone tried to pry it open.

I've had my share of dents and dings repaired using PDR. Unfortunately, I don't see any way PDR can fix this.

That is kinked and pdr can not fix that. A kink changes the grains in the metal and can't be returned to normal. Sorry for the bad news. That is definitely repairable, but will require body filler and paint work.

People are cunts.

It would've been less expensive to fix if they shattered a window and pulled the hood release.

The damage is done, oil canning is probably inevitable at this point. Looks really tough to fix when its on the edge as well. You would have to be a master at your craft to fix something like this in a way to make it halfway decent.
