Anyone know what had a bigger rear seat- e91 or f54

I currently have a 2017 Mini clubman. Really is an awesome car. We got it before we knew we were expecting our second daughter. So now the back seat is a little tight with two car seats back there. I'm considering going to an e91 but it would only make sense if the rear seat is more spacious. Does anyone (possibly someone who's owned both) know if it's a little bigger. I've been looking for measurements but can't find anything on tourings. I've looked at e90s and it seem the rear is a smidge bigger but I wasn't sure if it's reliable enough to go off of a sedan measurement.

I currently own both.

E91 is slightly more spacious than the clubbie in the rear. Possibly by an inch or two leg room.

But while the rear seat design of f54 is more for a flat bench type, e91 has the little bit of curvature, like the normal sedans. This makes the difference some what negligible in terms of actual feel of the space.

Trunk space wise, e91 is a definite win.

Ahhh I totally get what your saying. Wish I had a way to check one out in person. Can't exactly come in contact with anyone because of the newborn. Hopefully things get a little better and I can do a field test and see for myself if it's worth the switch.
Which do you prefer driving?

Haha got cha. Well, its a toss up between comfort and a bit more fun.

Even tho 3rd gen MINIs did grew in size & refined quite a bit (especially F54s) vs. previous gens, its still a MINI and they are just more exciting to drive than say, good ole' E91 328i.

For plain daily comforts, I would say E91.

Yea they really are awesome cars. When I was using it at my station car it was perfect. And even when it came to hauling I could reliably go to Home Depot and bring home 8 ft long 2x4s, bags of mulch, basically anything.

Now tho I'm not working and won't be for the foreseeable future so it'll be the kid hauler. So I'm kinda rethinking things. I'm at the point where I don't want to spend money on any more mods until I figure this one out.

Are you more interested in length or girth?

Yea I realize it was a bad thread title. I'm mostly interested in the back seat. From what I can tell it's about 10 inches longer overall. From what I can gather a good amount of that goes to the deeper trunk. I'd also assume that a bit goes to the front end to accommodate 2 extra cylinders. But it's the rear seat that I'm interested in knowing about. After I sell my zhp I might just grab an e91 and run them both for a while to see what I like.

I regularly travel with three teenagers (two of whom are over 6') in the back of my e91; I wouldn't do it for a 10 hr trip, but for driving around town, it's totally fine.

Well . . . a 3IM can go a long way in making the E91 a more exciting drive . . . and you get to keep the daily comfort. Just sayin'.

I’ve had both, totally different backseat. If you have rear facing kid seats the e91 sucks. Forward facing you’re golden. Love my e91 way more and will never sell it.

One is front, one is rear and it's the rear facing one I'd consider making the more for. That's the one that's pretty snug. I feel like it may be a wash between the cars for now- smaller car with the better seat vs the larger car with the worse seat. I'm at 5'7. I have a sneaking suspicion that once I'm in a good position that rear facing seat will have enough room.

If you were close by I’d let you use my e91 and see how the seats fit to help you make a decision.

Much appreciated. I'm sure I'll be able to find someone near by to let me test it out. Tbh I'm not exactly ready to pull a trigger on anything just yet so no need to rush.

I don't have kids but when visitors have come we had no issue with a rear facing seat behind me, but I'm only 6'.

I used to (before COVID) load my car up with adults all of the time without issue as well. The roofline is straight so I has good headroom. The only real knock is leg room for that center seat.
