Skyfall
Saw this last night and thought it was pretty shocking in how bad it was. I'd go as far to say it was the worst Bond ever.
Anyone else seen this? Thoughts? |

It's funny how the reviews differ on the film, but despite some of the bad ones,I'll still go. I'm surprised at the quote: "I'd go as far to say it was the worst Bond ever" Have you soon any of the Roger Moore Bond offerings? There's more cheese in those films than you'll find in any of your local supermarkets, now they were shockingly bad!

Just from the opening I was very under-whelmed. The first chase almost seemed comic, relaxed and not Bond at all. The music created no sense of urgency and DC looked like he wasn't taking it seriously.
The whole film felt like going through a 20mph zone, never got going. I felt so detached from the story and couldn't wait for it to end. Spoiler - Even bringing out an icon of the brand seemed desperate and then they stuck two fingers up at it. Just my 2p. |

Hotcoupe: If Moore's offerings were so bad then surely it would've killed the brand off? I know what you're saying about the cheese but that was his style. Moore said himself Bond is more like a playboy than a spy when every bar tender knows his name.

I watched it last night and tbh it was ok nothing that made me say wow after it finished. The chase at the begining was p155 poor, imp not worth the scene.
The only scene I would like to say made me go weak at the knees (oweeee :lol) was when Bond opened the door and the DB5 was there my jaw dropped as I was not expecting that and at the end I was just cringing when it was blown up |

I just didnt get it. Would say it was as bad as Quantum of Solice.
A bond that is out of shape and cannot shot straight?! A bond that decides to make a last stand in a remote location, yet forgets to take any weapons...jeez. Shanghai and the Casino were very pretty. The dragon scene and that bodyguard was laughable though

I stopped watching Bond when they chose Daniel Craig, I have nothing against the guy but he is just so NOT Bond. Bond is about being dark, handsome, cheeky and a bit cheesy aswell. Craig just doesnt have it. I watched about 20 minutes of his first film and stopped after that.

Hmm I'm still torn after seeing it last night. On one hand I thought it was a bit of a shit version of Jason Bourne but then I quite enjoyed it at the same time!! Worth a watch anyway imo

I like Daniel Craig as a bond tbh, although completely underwhelmed by Skyfall. The last two bond films have been rubbish which is a shame as his first 'Casino Royale' was proper !!

i think they have tried to do too much with Skyfall, celebrate 50, modern with a bond twist, leave it open for another actor to come in.
certainly not enough action, and what was there is quite slow. the DB7 moment was cheap and unneccesary, it made the cinema go 'ooooooooo' i thought javier bardem played the bad guy just right though |

I'm still not sure what to think of it in comparison to the other Bonds but, as has been said, I do think Casino Royal was DC's best film yet.
I thought Skyfall was good which contrasts with the OP's thoughts but it's far from the best yet.....like has also been said, a bit slow in places and, whilst Javier Bardem is a great baddie (I think he was brilliant in No Country for Old Men), I do think he could have been 'badder' in Skyfall! I liked the way the end reverts to Bond 'tradition' in so many ways (trying not to give too much away there!)....I wonder if it's DC's last one? |

In my opinion, it started very slowly and that first chase is crap. The way it handles/perceives technology is also crap, it's like they decided that technology would be key, but then just made up everything about it without any reality thrown in.
That said I certainly enjoyed the movie overall and the baddie is probably my favourite bond villain ever. Most decent villain was the combo of Jansen, Bean and the other bloke in Goldeneye. QOS is an awful film. Casino Royale is by far Craig's best. Sky fall is in between, beating all Brosnan efforts except possibly Goldeneye and beating many other bond movies too. Still doesn't quite reach Goldfinger or one or two others if you take into consideration the time they were filmed. Matt |
