DYNO TESTING DAY - calling out E90post members

Save your money, it's pointless for anyone with a non MT car so do a dyno run, trust me I tried. The car does not allow you do do a full 4th gear pull and thats the optimum gear for accurate dyno results. Just an FYI so you guys are not wasting time setting up cars.

Miguel... a dyno adds another 10 horsepower to your results!

Those numbers aren't real... you're really pushing 300+ HP at the wheel!

Yea thats 2 of us then 325 STEP..but if one of us did do this Hunter would be able to compare a base off of us am i wrong??

Man, if they dyno results are a wash due to the Step....then forget it. I can spend my $$$ on something else. I can still come by to hang out. But I do not want to pay for something that is officially pointless for me to do.

IT wouldnt nescarly be pointless...If u ever mod your engine you will have a baseline to compare it to...like if you get an intake/exhaust etc..u will actually be able to see what u gained!

Am i wrong????

The Base will be wrong.

It's fun to go and watch all the cars on the dyno though, I may show up just to kick it.

Mike at Technik says they have a E90 M-Sport 330i that they may have on display that day.

It will now be 60 bucks for 3 runs. I'm not the dyno expert, but I imagine the HP ratings will be relative at RPMs. You may not be able to assess your peak HP or peak torque, but if/when you do decide to do any performance mods, we can compare the graph with the post-mod graph.

Since ADHD has the 325 Step, we can also compare your numbers against his: 330 vs 325 (same transmission).

Now that's a novel idea. I like it. Thinking outside the box. However, I think it may difficult finding a 6-speed manual to rent?

We are in dire need of a manual E90 325i for comparison and will practically pay for that person's test runs.

Here's a recent letter I received from Mike at Technik. This will give you Steptronic and E90 enthusiasts motivation to be there:

Hi Michael,

In regard to the Steptronic concerns, can't say for sure, because we haven't dyno'd an E90 step, but if it's anything like the step in the E46, then it won't be a problem. Just put it in manual mode and select 4th, should do the trick. We only had kick down issues with regular autos, w/o steptronic, because you couldn't hold the gear to the floor. I guess we will find out if someone is willing to try it.

I was correct the first time. The E90 has BBS 1 piece forged 20x9.5 and 20x10.5 with 255/30 and 295/25 Pilots.

We can show the Technik E90 briefly with the explicit understanding that photographing the car is "strictly prohibited" by anyone in attendance, as the car has not been officially launched with the Press/Media. We can unveil the car briefly, I can do a quick walk around pointing out the mods.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
