im gonna try GPs in the fogs and see how it goes. If it looks wierd, ill get mtecs. I put GP 8500 h3's in my corner lights and they look great imo. If i do get mtec's I will have a pair of h8 gp 8500k bulbs for sale. Ill sell for like 20 bucks, i think thats the running price on em.

So, I just installed the MTEC Super White HID bulbs for my car's Angel Eyes; it was a fairly easy mod to do...it took me ~ 20 min., although it would've taken me ~ 10 min. had I not had the issues with 1 bulb. I had no trouble with the passenger side one (although most will say that's the harder one to install), but I did have some difficulty installing the driver's side bulb which got some scratches on the blue exterior of the bulb...any idea if this will affect the light and/or the longevity of the bulb?

Also, one more question...I accidentally turned the "screw-like" knob adjacent to the light which I think controls the light's level or left/right. I checked the car manual, but it doesn't have any info on this...any idea how to figure out what the setting should be?

Thanks.

I didn't like the GP's or the Cosmos Blue for the fogs. Mtec or Hoen look the best IMO

Received and installed the MTEC’s in the angels and fogs today. IMO they look great, no issues very quick install. IMO the MTEC’s look much better than the NOKYA plus no error! I’m a little concerned about the brightness during the day, I use the DRL’s but I’ll try them for a while, looks super with just angels and fogs.
Lesson learned: Don’t substitute a bulb when the vendor says it the same thing. I should have been patient and just waited for the MTEC’s. Thanks for all of the help.

That is a good questions about the scratches--i did the same thing, and have been wondering if it would lessen the life--no problems as of yet...

I just ordered a pair of GP thunders from www.hid-lights.com for my e92 that hasn't even started production yet For those that ordered from hid-lights, how long did it take to ship?

Yeah, so far so good. They look great, and the "white" HID light rings go all the way around, so I guess the scratches didn't affect the light anyhow.

Good to know that it didn't affect how your lights look either!

I'm kinda new to this whole lighting mod thing. So the general consensus is that for angel eyes gp thunder>mtec? I see that most ppl use mtec super white for fog light, but what do u guys think about cosmos blue for fog?

I'm still kinda confused guys. The mtec super white is 4350k, the GPs are 8500k, so that's a pretty big difference, does that mean the GP is both brighter and whiter?

Maybe this will help:
1500 K Candlelight
2680 K 40-watt incandescent lamp
3200 K Sunrise/sunset
3400 K One hour from dusk/dawn
5000-4500 K Xenon lamp/light arc
5500 K Sunny daylight around noon
5500-5600 K Electronic photo flash
6500-7500 K Overcast sky
9000-12000 K Blue sky
As you can see, higher Kelvin #'s are more blue. The Mtec, Hoen, GP Thunder or any coated bulb is not going to be brighter than an uncoated bulb of the same wattage. It may appear brighter because of the "whiter" light, but actually the lumen output is lower because of the coating on the bulb. The only way to get "brighter" light is to increase the wattage. If you use higher wattage bulbs than what is specified by BMW, you will get fault codes.
