+1 on the summary. But here is my question, the mtec superwhite is 4350k, and the GP is 8500k, so how come they both appears to be white?

They are both primarily white, but the gp has a very evident purple hue to it.

I got my Gp thunder 8500 Plazma white H8's today for angels and fogs. After watching some TV with the wifey I went out to the garage around 10:45 to start the install.
Angels were very easy once I got my fat fingers in there. Fogs I was a little concerned about taking out the bolts on the plastic fender liner and plastic under the bumper.. because in the past on other cars...the wholes never want to match up again..oh well I gave it a shot...No probs...took out 8 bolts total per side. I did the drivers side first and that one probably took 20 minutes or so..Then once I got over to the passenger I was feeling confident and had it done in 10 minutes....

IMHO they look absolutly amazing I am very glad I read this thread and decided to change the bulbs..such a huge difference. I took a bunch of pics..before and afters..one side stock one side GP...I will post them up tomorrow night...It is too late for me to up load pics..Work at 6am.

This might be a stupid question....but how the hell do you change the cornering lights H3's I didn't even see them when I was doing the angels...

Anyone care to help me out on this one..I did not order H3 bulbs...but after seeing how great the H8's came out I am definetly going to do it. If it is not too much trouble for someone to post a pic showing where the H3 bulb is and how to change it I would really appreciate it..

Thanks again...pics coming tomorrow night..Going to bed now...

Check out this thread!! They are WAY easier to swap out then the H8's trust me.

The are right on the top. (Post #5 has the pic) All you do is pop that spring clip, and pull the bulb out. Unplug it, plug the new one in, slide it in, push the spring clip back over to hold it in, and you're done. 2 minutes max for each side.

I have a spare set of Mtec H3's if you need them. $25 shipped next day delivery. I ordered two sets by mistake.

I covered this about 10 pages back. (I can't beleive this thread is this long!)

GP Thunders are an awesome bulb, but they are not 8500k. I am no kelvin rating expert, but they are not even close. They are true white, slight hint of blue/purple at angles. They are a close match, if not almost perfect with the Mtec super whites, and factory Xenons (once the xenons have a few hours on them). Look at the pictures in this and the photo thread for reference.

8 bolts per side? People you dont need to take out more than 4 or even 3. just pull pack the inside lining squeeze your hand in and its done.

Glad someone found you a pic of where the H3 was i almost started searching this ridiculous huge thread for you

That's funny, so how can GP claim they're 8500k when they're not even close(if that's true indeed)?

Kelvin ratings on halogen bulbs are really all speculative. Don't know how they even measure it. It's like they claim it consumes 55w yet puts out 85w. Not possible, but they look good. I cast the 8500k aside. They are an awesome looking bulb, but not 8500k.

Sh$t!?!?! Broken leg! Hope you are suing that a-hole!

Glad to hear that you are almost back in the saddle....For the record, I think the bulbs will look awesome on a montego colored E92. These light upgrades seem to be more noticeable on the black and blue bimmers--they look really good on my jet black.

Just remember--if you hate them, it only cost you $30 and they are easy to take out and try something else. I don't think you will have that prob. though...

Thanks again...I installed the bulbs this morning....I can't believe how quick you got these to me....Shipped out on friday 3pm received today at 11am.

Awesome...I will try and post some pics of the things I have done recently H8's angels and fogs +H3's. I also put in the rear fogs....Pics haven't been my priority lately...Someone hit my car yesterday ($5200 damage from an authorized BMW repair center) and kast night..I was warming up my bike in my lot, took it to one end of the lot, then drove it back...throttle got stuck I couldn't stop it I smashed into a 4ft pole and got launched over the bars....
Yeah no helmet either....Fortunatly I am ok just a little banged up....But the bike is banged up...Needs all new plastics, headlights, mirrors, visor, gear shift mechanism....And yeah no insurance...I cancelled it for the winter.

just bought the GP Thunder 8500's. Took about 10 minutes to install, the only annoying part was twisting the bulb back in, which i found was much easier to do if i left unplugged the bulb, installed it, and then re-connected them...piece of cake...fogs are next...

glad you're doing alright. Cars are dime a dozen, replaceable. No helmet and all, im happy you made it out of it without any head injuries or like me a broken leg. What good is a car, even if it is a 335 if you dont have the capacity to drive it. Heal fast, go bask in the light of those new angel's.

Has anyone tried changing their front turn signals yet? I use to have LEDs in teh front on my E46, but the last I heard there weren't any replacements for the E90 bulb yet. I think its a weird size.
