From my experience, if the 11psi spring is too strong, you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere in the system. I agree that the 10psi spring is a band aid and definitely agree that you should upgrade the hose barb on the intake manifold.

I run the 10lb spring in mine because the 11lb spring was causing too much flutter. BUT, that was with the smaller hose. Even though I now have a much improved line to the BOV, I still don't plan to go back to the 11lb spring because the 10lb one seems to be working very well.

I have been running one for long time, if I had Tial I would use -4AN line.

me and you think alike, I did the exact same thing.

a -10 spring would make the bov work a lot better and be much more responsive. the 11 psi spring is just too stiff for this car. The bov is supose to be slightly open at idle and the 10 psi spring is perfect.

I have a tial q on my turbo s2000 and the car pulls -22 of vacuum. I ran the 11psi spring and after i swap it out for the 10 psi spring the bov is finally open slightely at idle like it suppose to and the response of the box is much much faster and better.

I even email tial about this and they said you can run any spring and the bov will still work and the lighter the spring the faster and better the response and yes coming from tial them self the bov is suppose to be open at idle. I have been turboing and moding cars for over 10 years and i have found it bese to run 1 size spring pressure lower than the tial chart for the car.

I just bought my vrsf charge pipe with the tial bov and im sure then sent it with the 11psi spring. I cant wait to swap it out for the 10 psi spring.

-4 line is 1/4" ID, so we're on the same page there.

The BOV can only be open at idle IF air is coming out of it at idle. On larger single turbo setups the turbo might not be spinning fast enough at idle to blow air out of the BOV, in which case you would be sucking in unfiltered air into the engine.

My 10lb spring is not open at idle.

After reading this post and contacting Tial I decided to do something similar. I however also had my BOV line tapped for my boost gauge as well which Tial strongly recommended not to do. So in essence of needing an extra port on the manifold this was my solution.

What size barb and what size line did you use? That would certainly help.

The barb/fitting is an air hose adapter thats labeled 1/4" ID hose to 1/4" NPT. Drilled a 1/2" hole into the intake there and the threads tapped right into the intake manifold. That with some 2 part epoxy seemed to do the trick.

Then where do you put the vac line for your boost gauge?

I recently changed mine also. The flat spot just to the right of the stock nipple, I used a Q drill with a 1/4 NPT tap to put a 1/4 x 1/4 brass barbed nipple. Then just capped the stock nipple for later use (dyno boost line or boost gauge).

I was experiencing issues with spool flutter and surging at high boost (30psi). After upgrade, no issues.

Why does everyone that does an expansion tank relocation keep looking for a bracket that puts the reservoir right in the way of everything?

Move it forward out of the way.

How? With what? Did you use a bracket? Etc. All information that could help everyone you're suggesting this to...

Pretty sure you can tell that's a pre-fabbed bracket in the picture; a simple "where can I get one" would suffice....

That's the thing, I couldn't make anything out in that picture given that it looks like it was taken with a potato, but thanks for the link!

No worries; now if we could just identify such a clean solution to vaccum canister relocation....

Came with the Precision Raceworks inlets that I installed. The Injen PS reservoir bracket is a nice piece but would be in the way of my coolant reservoir. I had an Injen intake before inlets and was going to try to use it.

Boost gauge line goes in the stock location. Its the blue silicone line you can see in the pic.

What coolant reservoir are you using?

The centerline of the relocated power steering reservoir is 5.5" forward of the front-most mounting hole for the 335d tank - a virtual mile in this engine bay.

If I had a 335d coolant reservoir than yea that would be great. TFT's kit comes with a bracket similar to Injen's. Im using the factory reservoir and it butts up against the back of my headlight. From what ive seen/read the e92/LCI's have more room up there than I do.

The photos I attached are of an E90 (pre-LCI).

Could you post up a pic?

I dont have a close up shot uploaded but you can still tell here that it would be in the way. The hood is like 1-2mm from the reservoir cap.
