Blinking Brake Force Display??
I found this while looking throgh my NFRM. Very interesting. Looks like you can enable a second level (BFD2) of the brake force braking. With this you can enable blinking of various lights. Seems hard to test, but would be interesting to learn more about...
Code:
BFD2_AKTIV * nicht_aktiv not active aktiv active BFD2_ESS_ENABLE * nicht_aktiv not active aktiv active BFD2_ESS_ANZEIGE * nicht_aktiv not active aktiv active BFD2_SL_BL_1 * nicht_aktiv not active dauer_an blinkend flashing BFD2_SL_BL_2 * nicht_aktiv not active dauer_an blinkend flashing BFD2_BFD * nicht_aktiv not active dauer_an blinkend flashing BFD2_BL_M * nicht_aktiv not active dauer_an blinkend flashing BFD2_NSL * nicht_aktiv not active dauer_an blinkend flashing BFD2_BL * nicht_aktiv not active dauer_an blinkend flashing BFD2_BLINKEN * 3_hz 5_hz BFD2_V_MIN * wert_01 value 01 * wert_02 value 02 BFD2_A_MIN * wert_01 value 01 wert_02 value 02 BFD2_A_LOE wert_01 value 01 * wert_02 value 02 BFD2_T_ABS * wert_01 value 01 wert_02 value 02 |

Any update? Would be really interested in seeing the German-market default settings, particularly those producing the blinking frequency shown by the GTS under hard braking in this video at around 0:31.

would also be interested in this.
I know it's possible to enable Brake Force Display (both brake bulbs) as the default for braking. Would be interested in having that as the default and blinking under hard braking. |

I noticed that in the video also, would definitely be interested in coding my car to do this.

That would be very cool! If anyone can figure this out, it would be Grant@DetailAddict...he seems very well versed in coding!
Just skimming, I'm honing in on this section: BFD2_V_MIN * wert_01 value 01 * wert_02 value 02 BFD2_A_MIN * wert_01 value 01 wert_02 value 02 BFD2_A_LOE wert_01 value 01 * wert_02 value 02 BFD2_T_ABS * wert_01 value 01 wert_02 value 02 This seems to control when it's going to flash--ABS would logically cause the flashing to kick in when ABS is working hard, I'm going to guess V_MIN involved a minimum speed for this to kick in? I don't know, I still haven't made the plunge on a coding cable yet...even though I should. |

No, that looks like LED's themselves. Also 5 series have that feature enabled from the factory, so there's a chance it's possible on 3 as well.
This is also FRM2+ only feature. I enabled the values loooong time ago but there's no easy way to test it. |

can you set up a video camera on the side of a deserted road, and do a panic stop as you drive by it?

I was able to get this to work on FRM 1 modules (coded it on mines and a few others).
However, for FRM2 and FRM 3 modules, I am trying to figure it out. I upgraded my FRM 1 with the NFRM (FRM2) module. Fore those with frm 1 here are the values. BFD_1_RL_BL_ERSCH_BILD = brake light wert_03 = flashing BFD_1_BL_M_ERSCH_BILD = 3rd Brake light wert_03 = flashing BFD_1_RL_BL_1_ERSCH_BILD = brake light 1 wert_03 = flashing BFD_1_RL_BL_2_ERSCH_BILD = brake light 2 wert_03 = flashing BFD_1_NSL_ERSCH_BILD = rear fog lamp wert_03 = flashing I just did the flashing on my rear fog lamps as I don't like the look of all the rear lights flashing (too slow with halogen bulbs). |

On my Trans Am I installed LED bulbs in my hi mount 3rd brake light and a special flasher module that rapidly flashes ONLY the 3rd brakelight upon initial application of the brakes
Is there a way to code BMW hi mount 3rd brakelight to flash ONLY upon applying the brakes? Car is 09' E92 with FRM2...
