Fitted a BMW Performance Steering Wheel!
A few weeks ago I was harmlessly browsing eBay and I came across a BMW Performance Steering wheel, brand new for £280 from a BMW Dealership in Canterbury.
I naturally thought it was too good to be true and the advert didn't list compatibility for the steering wheel - whether it was for a 1 series/3 series, manual/auto e.t.c. I called up the dealership and they confirmed it was all pukka and it will fit my car. In the mean time my friend bought it incase someone else did as he would of sold it on if it didnt fit my car. I downloaded the installation instructions and I checked the list of items against the advert pictures. I noticed the slip ring for the steering wheel was missing. Got back on the phone to the dealership who confirmed the slip ring was lost and they ordered a brand new one from Germany at the cost of ~£90 which they covered. The steering wheel was naked, so I transferred my existing M/F buttons, airbag and trim. I took the day off work and had a nice drive to Canterbury, picked up the steering wheel and spent the day there. Visited Canterbury Cathedral and I must say its a lovely town. I had the steering wheel fitted by my mechanic and I picked it up on Monday. It is such a cool piece of kit, rather gimmicky but I love that. Its the V1 version which I think is better because the amber light matches the rest of the dashboard and speedos (unlike the V2 which is white that matches the M3 speedos). Its pretty awesome at night, I'm just scared to use it as I will wear the Alcantara . Some pics (full pro photoshoot coming soon): Last edited by Dirty Tool; 02-13-2014 at 03:24 AM.. |

Thank you everyone for your words.
Now all I need are your lite angels Quote:
The V1 isn't being made anymore, but the V2 retails for ~£1100. |
