Seat Creak
Anyone here experienced the driver's seat creaking? Mine's started to do this during braking and accelerating, and if you move back and forth in the seat when stationary. I've done a search and found people complaining of this, but not found a definite cause or cure. Time for a trip to the dealer methinks...

get some silicon seal spray... from most autoshops. I sprayed along where the leather(ette) lower parts of the seat rub on the plastic trim, and it sorted out the drivers side... though I need to do the passenger side still.

My drivers one is doing the same - every time you accelerate away it creaks with your bdy weight pressing against it. - also when you are cornering it creaks
It is going into the dealer on Wed to have the new clutch and flywheel fitted s will mention it and see if they can look at it whilst it's in. I won't hold my breath tho as I asked em to look at it last time they had it. The car got delivered back with the seat still creaking and not a word from the stealer since BMW customer service is lacking in quite a few dealers from what I gather reading some of the recent post's on here! Is that the cause of the creak then - the leather and plastic surfaces rubbing against each other?? anyone got creaking fabric/cloth/alcantara seats? - this may confirm it! |

Mine does this and I **hate** it. Its a really loud creak, definitely not the leather. Its the seat itself. Its especially bad under acceleration and braking.

When you accelerate, does the seat make a clicking sound as your body weight shifts backwards? It does on mine, then clicks when the bodyweight goes forward as I brake. It sounds like a seat-runner bolt is loose and there is movement in the seat frame, but I've gone round with a wrench and tightened everything as much as I can. I've even sprayed lube oil down there, everywhere, but it didn't help. My dealer doesn't even know what it is (although that's not suprising, given the current state of my car )

At the moment, I'm using a leather feed and conditioner from DFS Sofas, but might try the Zymol stuff as it's actually a little cheaper unbelievably!!

Yes, my strap was not caught. I will report back if the PB Blaster (lubrication like a really good WD40) does not keep the problem away. The creak was definitely coming from that pivot joint. |

Ive heard on the grapevine that the volume of the seatcreak is in direct proportion to the size of the arse which is sat upon it
