The RIGHT way also involves emptying the old oil that sits in the oil filter housing (use a syringe) and priming the system by pouring the first 1/2 litre of new oil into the oil filter housing, rather than the filler in the rocker cover.

However, that will go under a "Complete Engine Oil Extraction" category, in which case the oil is so used/burnt that it will not mix with the new changed oil. What I was demonstrating in my video goes under "Step-by-Step Oil Chnage, the right way for E90" which should be done generally between 6k-8k based on preference. In this case only draining the engine and replacing the oil would be significant; remainder oil in the filter housing will be blended with the new oil during the first 5min of the running engine. Cheers. |

BMW Long-life rating LL-01 Approved Synthetic Oils for the US Market:
Castrol Syntec European Formula SAE 0W-30 Mobil 1 SAE 0W-40 Pennzoil Platinum European Formula Ultra SAE 5W-30 Valvoline SynPower SAE 5W-30 i switched from the castrol 0w-40 that the PO had in there to german castrol 0w-30 on this oil change because i was eating that 0w-40 like crazy...two FULL quarts from when i bought the car till this recent oil change... and so far ZERO oil consumption and much cooler oil temps.this Castrol 0W-30 is being replaced by there new 5W-40 formula so when i can't get 0W-30 anymore i will switch to Amsoil 5W-40 European formula.... http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produc...?code=EFMQT-EA Last edited by SJM67; 03-02-2017 at 07:55 PM.. |

Cold Oil
In the video he mentions to do the oil change with the oil cold so you don't burn yourself. Completely wrong, warm/hot oil gets the contaminents out of the oil as it drains. I've been doing oil changes for over 50 years and always drain my oil when the engine is at operating temperature and have never burned my hands.
