In any event, at startup, on the gauge cluster, I see a yellow car-shaped symbol with the miles counting down (now shows 60). On the bottom of the i-drive screen it just displays Service Due. No warning chimes. On the CBS Service Menu on the i-drive screen, the oil change box is yellow. The other indicators (vehicle inspection, brake fluid, brake pads) are normal green.

tried it, doesn't seem to work. tried both as written (STEUERN_CBS_SC_CODIERUNG;0;0), and using only the arguments (0;0) - none work. what am I doing wrong ?

I have a 2011 E90 and my friend has a 2007 E92. Will we be subject to this stupid issue?
I know there's no money to be made, but I'm surprised some sort of legal issue hasn't been brought up with BMW. I find this to be absolutely ridiculous. How can BMW not disclose this at the time of sale? There is no mention anywhere, such as the owner's manual or window sticker, of the condition based oil change interval feature failing after a certain mileage is reached. I cannot fathom why, in this day and age, a permanent software fix cannot and should not be provided free of charge by BMW. What if the windshield suddenly turned opaque at 186,000 miles? Or what if the radio was (unintentionally, I'm hoping) programmed to blare non-stop at 186,000 miles? It seems like BMW's solution would be to wear ear plugs. |

Still waiting for my notification that the parts are in for my 335i Takata airbag to be replaced. Got the letter from BMW more than a year ago. Bought a F150, in the meantime, and love it's Detroit Symphony 5.0 V8, relative lack of complexity and room to work under the hood. I'm probably over and done with BMW. My F150 will drive over curbs with barely a shudder. I'm the fastest guy leaving Wal-Mart. It runs on regular gas. Love it. |

Unfortunately I didn't watch it very long. I noticed today that my service indicator was back on. Thought it was because I need a state inspection. Then found that the oil service was at 1500 miles instead 19k. So, I dutifully reset it and it reset to 19k. And within 5 minutes the fragging thing reset itself down to 1500 miles. I'm at 226,500 miles...... Is the note you talk about the one on the first page called "OCI Note.pdf" that I need when I talk to the dealership? |

I hope they didn't charge you to have the techs check it out. I paid for BMW techs to check it several years ago, and BMW still wouldn't take care of it after I finally found out it was their issue. They even wanted me to buy a new ECU. Just in case it isn't obvious, this 5 minute - no parts fix they wouldn't do has really soured me with the BMW brand (and I own 3 of them). |

I might have to accelerate the planning of fixing my oil pan leak. It's only leaking a liter about every 10k miles. I'm not happy about the situation, but I've owned several new vehicles and this is the least offensive issue I have run into. Had a Ford truck that had 4 recalls before it hit 20k miles. Had a Chevy truck that had 3 recalls and 5 TSB before 50k. I've got a Nissan Pathfinder that the radiator ruptured internally and allowed the coolant and the transmission fluid to mix (Known issue with Nissans) before 75k... and Nissan wouldn't do a thing about it. Cost me around $1,000 to replace the radiator, flush both systems multiple times to finally get it running correctly again. Now found the idiots used thin aluminum lines to the rear AC unit. Dirt and debris has worn holes into it and so now the whole vehicle has no air conditioning. So, at 227k miles I've got a little issue of remembering to change the oil every 10k, so be it. I love my car and want to drive it a long time... |

Is it really all leak, or consumption? I've been consuming a bit less than that for well over 100k miles (at 361k now) with not really any increase in rate.

Leaks also started around my VCG at the same time. And my tail pipes are very clean, so I don't think it's consumption. |

So I'm still waiting on the BMW of Roanoke dealership to get back to me, I ran across this post linked to a similar issue on E90Post general board and it is intriguing me. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=764082 Could the dread 300k kilometer limit or cycles be lurking in the argument referenced? PS... never mind. Found the posters follow up article referencing the "300k" limit. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...833&highlight= |

Well, going to make a long story short... basically after being completely ignored by Roanoke BMW went a talked to Lynchburg BMW. So after a bit of work, they contacted BMW and found out yes, I was telling the truth about the issue.
I was going to have them program the car not to report the service over due. But then I thought about it. It tells you how far overdue and I think I can use that to keep track of how many miles has been since I changed the oil if it will reset to zero each time. It seems to do that just fine... just won't reset to 19k. Last edited by Greyfox; 11-10-2017 at 09:37 AM.. |

I change the oil every 5k miles so it's pretty easy to keep track of without the CBS indicator. |
