The e91 wagon is the last BMW with a normally aspirated inline 6 cylinder engine that BMW's were known for. I've always had a fascination for the long roof, but understand the market has migrated to SUV/Crossovers.
It may take awhile before wagon owners come out of the woodwork, but let's try and create a mini-registry of New England based wagon owners before the wagon body style becomes extinct in the U.S. Feel free to divulge as much or as little as you want. I've owned my E91 since 2005 and am located just north of Boston.

I owned a E91. It was slow as fuck and tried to kill me once, once. It is underpowered.
However it is the only BMW I owned that never gave me any issues or check engine lights. The wagon gives more space but it can't hold drywall or lumber really. So it's cool for camping and loading it up but it is not in any way a replacement for a bed. Now an n54 powered wagon is cool. Having a wagon faster than 99% of the races on the road? even cooler. Would I buy again? Never.

Well it tried to kill me camping so...not a fan.
I was sleeping in the car and the cat caught pine needles on fire at least that is what I think. There was a recall because of fires on that model. But it went out like 2 years after my 'event' when the car burned to the ground. Got so hot the VIN numbers were unreadable. Honestly I would still be driving it if it did not have it's accident. It had REALLY low miles and I got it from a family member for a steal.

Been away from the forums for some time now - but I’m always down for some wagon talk. While mine is not of the E9X variety it does share a N54, o wait the 3 series did not come with that. Well it’s a wagon we will leave it at that.
I did have a 335i in the past as a summer car and multiple iterations of some form of winter car. I grew tired so swapping back and forth so with the past year and a half I sold the 335i my other winter cars and grabbed a 2010 E61 Sport wagon last month build date on the assembly line. Over the course of my ownership I have mainly been making sure the car is up to date on all maintenance as the prior owner was a bit lack luster in this regard. During that time I took the liberty to update some visual aspects as well. While I do miss having a Manual 335i to row the gears I have a better appreciation for the E61. The confront seats are amazing, the cabin interior is laid out very nice with everything heated. I enjoy my daily driving it more than any other car that I have had so far. Also the overall functionality that I have been able to take advantage of has been a huge plus. Trips are a breeze, making use of the multiple roof mounting systems is great as well not to mention it looks good doing it. The end goal of the car is to get a little more HP in it “Waiting on single turbo install” and supporting mods and tidying up a few things such as maintenance. I would love to remove the KW V3 and install a Full air suspension, not to slam the car but functionally. During the winter months I hook up my laptop and raise the rear to max height and then adjust the front coils to Max. plus when I load the car up with people and supplies ect i find myself adjusting the rear height. Having that available at a touch of a button would be huge. I also think the roof box is going to change this year I have been eyeing the Thule Vector but of course keeping the black and white theme. Possible selling the winter rims and getting some TE37 Reps in Bronze, need to keep things fun! Island road, your e61 (unicorn) is done proper, and thank you for sharing man. I'm not a prolific post-er, but finding local long-roofs like yours is exactly why I started the thread. Thx again.

Trying to make that happen. Need to buy just top mount manifold as making the one I have is way to much work. If you happen to see one for sale give me a heads up.

As for no front plate so far I have been good on that end. Being a wagon Cops don't really mind the most attention I have gotten from these are a few thumbs ups.

Have you asked ACF? I can make an intro if you want and tell him to give you a deal.

DocRace also has one you can buy for 2k - ACF fit so so on the E6X i have already reached out last year around the same price as DocRace - Custom is 3k - might reach out to some other manufactures.

Bristol county here, hour south of Boston. 2011 M-Sport, 6MT. Some mods but cosmetic. Have 3IM but haven't gotten around to putting it on yet. Just passed 60k miles, car runs super smooth. Love the utility and handling, plus rowing the gears is such a pleasure and the N52 is a blast to redline.
I have considered selling in favor of something w more power but will just wait until I can grab an e92 M3 hopefully this spring. Thanks for starting this thread OP!! |

Two wagons here in Framingham. The gray one has the 3 stage intake and a 6MT, blue one has 4 wheels attached and 4 doors that open...
In the summer I'll probably put a 6MT in the blue one. Maybe put in an N54 while I'm at it.

I've recently been on the fence as to sell or not sell my e91. I want something with more power but don't want to do anything crazy to the touring, it's perfect just the way it is. But gosh, I test drove the X3M40i while at the dealer last week and now I'm torn. Find a cheaper high mileage e9x M3 in addition to my wagon or sell the wagon and go to the X3M40... I go back and forth everyday like an idiot. I just love these things so much!! Glad to see all the local touring owners coming out here. Let's plan a meetup for spring!! |

After the gray wagon was totaled a couple weeks ago, I went over to BMW Sudbury and test drove a 440i coupe. Wow does that thing move! But, the steering feel is gone, and the transmission doesn't do anything I want it to do, so I ended up driving down to New Jersey and picking up the blue one. Spent the last few days swapping to sport steering wheel and seats and old-style mirrors, and fixing random things that it needed. In the "more power" department, I'll put in a 3-stage intake this week some time. It will still be anemic compared to any of the -40 or -35 series cars, but I don't go as fast as I used to. A wagon meetup sounds great! By the way, if anyone needs anything off my old wagon (an '07 in sparkling graphite) let me know, I'll be parting it out over the next couple of weeks.

Agree winnibago about the wagon market and proliferation of suvs. It's pretty sad actually. Long live long roofs.
Vilord - will you retune to make the intake work? I always thought that needed to happen as well. I have a 3im that has not been installed yet for that very reason, maybe I was wrong? |
