Monticello to host next USGP?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/moto...ne/8697770.stm
Monticello is pretty far from anything, but the track is gorgeous. Beautiful landscape, some great corners - I had a chance to run it in April, and I absolutely loved it. It has a nice long straight for overtaking, too! The track would obviously have to be widened a bit to accomodate overtaking, but otherwise it would be a real blast. And at 1.5 hours from NYC, it's not TOO far away for visitors. They will just have to put in place a good bus'ing/transport system for the race. |

I am calling BS on this as there are lot of tracks with greater marketing potential that do not need to be modified.

My pick would be Watkins Glen. Even the Belgians would come.
Monticello is good too, lots of camping and fly fishing close by. Perhaps we nee to start panning the road trip. IRL is coming to Baltimore. |

As long as the track owner or event host have enough money to pay Bernie...
especially after Herman Tilke (somehow he's FOM/FIA's most favorite track designer....but also the most boring tracks) said it only requires a bit modification to the track and its good to go.....

I say Mid-Ohio. Not because it is close to me, it is purely awesome track.

Monticello is not a classic name, but the track layout itself is brilliant - lots of high speed, challenging, and blind corners on hilly terrain. The facilities are already excellent for a club course, and could be easily upgraded given both the space of the property and the financial power that MMC has. |
